One
evening, two friends, Kosal and Kiri, were talking in the school yard.
Kiri:
I feel so sad today, Kosal!
Kosal: Why? What happened to you?
Kiri:
The new term has already been going for a week, but I still have no money to
buy books. My mom sent me only $50 this month, so if I buy books, it will be
impossible to survive.
Kosal:
I don’t have money, too. If I have, I will help you. Oh, you can sit near me
and share the books together. You know, I don’t also have money; I just try to
sell magazines at restaurants along the riverside at night in order to save
money to buy books for this term.
Kiri:
But..., I can’t do like you. I’m so shy. Hmmm, Why? Why is my life so pitiful?
Maybe I should quit. I can’t fight this situation.
Kosal:
How if you can have books, but you would be blind. Could you offer?
Kiri:
What? Why do you say this?
Kosal:
I mean, if you are blind, but you can have everything, could you offer that
life?
Kiri:
No! How can I take it if I can see nothing?
Kosal:
My own life has nothing to surprise you because we both have enough body parts,
only I try a little more than you. Anyway, one person will surprise you!
Kiri:
Who?
Kosal:
He was blind since he was born. Most sadly, his parents died when he was just
two years old. He lives with his brother. Most days, they don’t have enough
food to eat, but they both still keep studying. His brother always encourages
him to study, and he himself is also really passionate about his studies, even
though he is blind. He and his brother do not have parents to support them, but
they both always try to sell magazines daily to support their studies and food.
And now this blind boy is in sixth grade. He never wants to quit school, even
though his life is so tough and pitiful.
How
is your life compared to the blind boy’s?
Kiri:
Exactly! My life is so much better than his.
Kosal:
So, why don’t you try to fight the life obstacle? Life is about fighting!
Fighting to make it beautiful.
Kiri:
Okay, my friend! I will try with this life.
Kosal:
Wait, do you know who he is?
Kiri:
Oh, who?
Kosal:
He is my brother!
Kiri:
Wow..., really?
Kosal:
Yes.
Kiri: I’m so sorry to hear that. Both your brother and you are so pitiful. You and your brother are my idols. I will always keep this real-life story in mind, and I will never give up anything until I make my life beautiful. Moreover, I will share this great and inspiring story with all the people I know. Until I know about this, I can see that my life is great enough. I really thank you and pretty much thank my parents, and I will try to make them feel grateful because of me.
